Obituary

Mr. Willie Lewis "Randy" Gunn was born on October 2, 1954, in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama, to the late Mr. Willis Lewis Gates and Mrs. Cornelia Gunn. He was one of two children born to this union. Willie was raised in Randolph County, where he attended the local school system.

He was a dedicated and hardworking man who began his career with Candlewick Yarns. He later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he established a life and career. While residing in East Point, Georgia, he was employed with the East Point Sanitation Department for many years. He later joined Reed Construction Company, where he faithfully served for twenty-five years until his retirement.

Willie was determined to live a long and fulfilling life, and he did so with strength and resilience. Even as his health began to decline, he courageously battled kidney disease. Despite his illness, he remained steadfast in his desire to live life to the fullest.

On Friday, April 10, 2026, Mr. Gunn peacefully transitioned into eternal rest at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories seven children: Tamekia Wright of Roanoke, Alabama; Taleshia Curry of Buffalo, New York; Ashley Gunn (Milton), Amber Rose, Quinton Hampton, Desmond Rose, and Aaron Rose, all of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by two brothers: Cecil Gunn of Roanoke, Alabama, and Willie Potts of Valley, Alabama; one aunt, Nancy Ruth Houston of Roanoke, Alabama; and one niece, Shontae Gunn of Roanoke, Alabama.
