James Willis Potter Sr., also known as (Pump), age 71, of Wedowee, AL was called home on September 19, 2025, at 12:48 p.m. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

James was born on August 13, 1954, to the late John and Elizabeth Potter. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and skilled contractor whose life was marked by love, kindness, and strength.

He is survived by his wife, Ezell Potter, and his three sons: Dedrick Minniefield, James Willis Potter Jr., and Quincy Potter (Kayla). James also leaves behind his brother, Willie Potter (Ester). He was the proud grandfather of Raven Williams, Isiah Minniefield, Jalen Baker, Morgan Potter and Natalie Spruill, and a great-grandfather to two precious great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Potter.

James's presence was a blessing to all who knew him. Although James's earthly journey has ended, his legacy is built not only in the structures that stand tall across Alabama, but also in the love, laughter, and devotion he shared with his family and community. His presence was a blessing, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
